A
NOTE FROM JOAN, OUR ASSOCIATE PASTOR
After a spectacular spring, our
glorious summer is upon us. Like you, I am thrilled by the sweetness of the air
and the wild, wonderful blessings of the woods and water that surround us in our
delicious Door County. These days are short, and precious.
We know we must make the most of them.
Besides all the outdoor fun and
company you will have this season I hope you will join me for some new
experiences at Hope. If you are an early riser, please come to the new 7:30
Devotions on Sunday morning. My goal is to share a heart-centered circle that
calls in the Spirit. If intellectual inquiry invigorates you, please come to Living
the Questions at 9:00 on Sunday. I promise some stimulating ideas and good
conversation. This may be your chance to say the things you’ve always wanted
to say in church!
A dozen of us had a great trip
to Yellowstone in May and the Circle Singers spent a grand retreat weekend
singing and sharing with the women of Hope in early June. These small group
experiences give us a chance to know each other better and to enjoy ourselves
together. I love that. All summer, and into the fall, we will be organizing
small groups for canoeing and swimming and singing and studying and celebrating
God in all things. I hope you will join us for many of them. We’ll have to announce them in the Sunday bulletins because
there is no further issue of Hope
Happenings until August, but we will get the word out!
I am pleased to announce that my
friend James Schattauer, the talented singer/songwriter from Minneapolis, will
be here to provide music for the 10:30 service with me on June 24th. I
have an unusual message (and some special guests) for you that day as well. Our
Annual Congregational Meeting follows immediately after the service.
I look forward, as always, to being with you.
Happy Summer! Joan
