A Note From Joan

Dear Ones,

Just a couple of thoughts this month.  I’m really enjoying the conversations I keep hearing as people discover the contents of Complaint-Free World. This is a challenging task, but most seem delighted to try it. I’m looking forward to the group meetings.

If you like the music of the Beatles, don’t miss Sunday morning, February 17, when I will lead a service entitled “The Gospel According to the Beatles.” You are sure to hear something you like.

And I want to share a something with you that I just love. All my life I wanted to live in the woods and now I do.  This is a daily joy in my life. Perhaps you love them too.

Trees                      by W. S. Merwin

I am looking at trees
they may be one of the things I will miss
most from the earth
though many of the ones I have seen
already I cannot remember
and though I seldom embrace the ones I see
and have never been able to speak with one
I listen to them tenderly
their names have never touched them
they have stood round my sleep
and when it was forbidden to climb them
they have carried me in their branches
